A Legacy of Volunteerism

For as long as I can remember, I would go with my grandparents, Bill & Vera Russell of Carl Junction, while they were volunteering and serving the community for so many years.

“Everything from the senior center, gardening club, monthly breakfasts, and donating the use of land for a Welcome Garden at the entrance into Carl Junction. They never viewed it as volunteering, it was just what you did for the community you live in. My husband and I have instilled those same values in our children.

Volunteering -

  • Served at Watered Gardens 

  • Painting ‘Buckle-Up’ signage on school parking lots

  • Painting area crosswalks 

  • Assisting residents in Jasper County with the display of their E-911 address

  • Coordinated with the Joplin Trails Coalition for the cleanup and beautification of public walking trail 

Ryan and Travis both earned the rank of Eagle Scout.

Slade held a lemonade stand and used the funds he raised to purchase dog food for the Joplin Humane Society.

Missouri State Legislature recognized Eagle Scouts on the House Floor. Ryan and Travis at lower desks.
